*There are two meal breaks each day (campers provide own lunch /snacks)
Students will be divided into groups based on their age level. Each group has their own age-appropriate acting class that focuses on basic through advanced performance skills, as well as styles related to the week’s theme. Students will also take specialized Voice and Movement classes, developing fundamental techniques that are applied in acting classes as they work towards Friday’s performance piece.
On Wednesdays, students will have the chance to participate in workshops that focus on special theatrical skills. Our students’ favorites from 2011 Summer Camp include: Physical Comedy, Greek Masks, Stage Combat, Technical Theatre, Who Done It?
and much more!
Students will also be given the choice between two elective classes:
MONDAY / WEDNESDAY ELECTIVE CHOICES
Playwriting
Students will actively explore the first steps in creating their own stage or screenplay. Beginning ideas for plot, dialogue and character development will be the focus of this elective. Returning campers will have the opportunity to continue developing their pieces.
On-Camera Acting
Students will learn acting techniques for on-camera work, including audition tips and a look into the business of the business! Each age group will have its own specialized curriculum, ranging from solo and partner commercials to projects involving the entire class. Work will be recorded and students will receive a DVD copy on their performance day (included in camp tuition).
TUESDAY / THURSDAY ELECTIVE CHOICES
Musical Theater
Students will work together on a group number from a famous musical. They will learn lyrics, melody and choreography. Great for musical theater fans, or those who would like to give it a try in a comfortable group setting.
Improvisation / Theater Sports
Students create short scenes, situations and characters, while focusing on listening, teamwork, and “thinking on their feet”. Taking its inspiration from classic improv, as seen on TV’s “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” activities will be age-appropriate and are a ton of fun for improv veterans or those who might like to explore this “scriptless” form of acting.
*All schedules/instructors are subject to change.
