IMPORTANT INFORMATION & POLICIES:

REGISTRATION: Two ways to register: Online and via Mail/Fax. You will receive email confirmation upon receipt and final confirmation via email just before the start of classes.

SHOWCASE ENROLLMENT/MAKE-UP POLICY: Cast sizes vary for our Showcase projects, but our goal is to include and feature as many young actors as possible. If a Showcase does not meet the minimum enrollment, it will be cancelled and you will be notified by email or phone. We do not offer make-up classes or refunds for rehearsals missed due to a child's inability to attend. We will make every effort to spend time with students who have had to miss a rehearsal to get them caught up on what they have missed.

SHOWCASE PROCESS: Actors do not have to audition to enroll in a Showcase project. The first rehearsal meeting for each of the projects is spent with directors getting to know the actors, as they work through a series of activities that help determine the best cast placement for each actor. For musical projects, actors will be asked to sing a short song. There are opportunities for non-singers in our musical productions as well. Actors rehearse (or film) for several weeks, experience dress rehearsals and the incorporation of technical elements, all leading up to our Showcase performance weekend.

SHOWCASE PRODUCTIONS: Our Showcase projects are ticketed events, open to the public, and are an exciting way to share our work with families and friends. Specific numbers of performances, times, and location vary per project, and students are provided with pertinent details upon registration, at the beginning of rehearsals and throughout the rehearsal process.

ACTING CLASS ENROLLMENT/MAKE-UP POLICY:
If a class does not meet the minimum enrollment (8) it will be cancelled and you will be notified by email or phone. Usual class size ranges from 10 – 14. Classes with larger enrollment will be divided/additional faculty assigned to ensure that students receive individual attention. We will make every effort to find class placement for all students. We do not offer make-up classes or refunds for classes missed due to a child’s inability to attend. Students are always welcome to make up missed time by auditing other classes.

ACTING CLASS CURRICULUM: AFYP presents a fun yet challenging curriculum. Some work is required outside of class.  Plans for the first class of each session include basic activities that may be a review for more advanced students. This enables faculty to assess the level of each actor and tailor the session’s class plans to suit the group’s needs.

ACTING CLASS PRESENTATION FORMAT: AFYP’s focus is on “process” vs. “product.” Each class culminates in a final sharing for families and friends, and parents will be invited to observe interim classes on a designated date, to be announced early in the session. Parents are welcome to observe for a few minutes on the first day of classes.

REFUND POLICY: Cancellations will be refunded less a $25 processing fee and the prorated amount of each class attended, if any, as of the date of cancellation. Requests for refunds must be made in writing. No refunds are issued after the completion of the second week of class.

RETURNED CHECK FEE: Checks returned by bank subject to $25 charge.

PAYMENT OPTIONS: AFYP will consider payment option plans and financial assistance on a case-by-case basis.  For Financial Assistance Form call Mary at (703) 307-5332.

SIBLING/MULTIPLE COURSE DISCOUNTS: AFYP offers $5 off each tuition for EACH ADDITIONAL enrolled family member; $5 off each tuition if registered for multiple classes. For example, the cost for two siblings taking a class which costs $200 would be $195 for each child.

PHOTOGRAPHY: AFYP reserves the right to use photos & videos taken in class for promotional purposes only.

INCLEMENT WEATHER: In the event of inclement weather/local emergencies, AFYP follows directives for Fairfax County Public Schools/Community Activities. We will do our best to make up classes missed due to circumstances beyond our control (i.e., weather, County rules).

DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOR: If a student displays disruptive behavior and is a hindrance to the progress of the class, that student and his/her parents will receive one warning. If behavior continues, student will be asked to leave class permanently with no refund granted.
