AFYP In the Moment: Summer Acting Camp 2016!

We had an AMAZING time at camp this year!  We kicked off our summer with our third annual Broadway Review Showcase.  This year's production was called "Into the City" and was musical journey from the Enchanted Forest all the way to the Emerald City.  Our favorite fairytale and Disney characters had to fix their stories.  The characters made it all the way to their creators, like Frank L. Baum and the Brother Grimm, who helped to straighten out the classic tales once more.

After the Broadway Showcase, we had 5 fun-filled weeks of camp!  We had over 750 campers ranging from 5-18, working on 25 different presentations. Campers experienced unique workshops every Wednesday in addition to visiting electives like Voice, Movement, Acting for the Camera, Playwrighting, Improv, and Musical Theatre each day.

Our Advanced Actors' Showcase was a world premiere play by Lisa Nanni-Messegee called "Ace Diamond: Fairy Tale Detective." This film noir inspired play followed Ace Diamond on a journey of self discovery through a fractured fairy tale world. Along the way, he encountered dangerous villains like Red Riding Hood and Goldie, a cunning family of bears, and many would-be actors--finally leading him to meet...the writers.
