AFYP provides professional-level training in a supportive and fun environment that empowers young actors with lifelong skills valuable both on stage and off. We create and present plays that harness the power of theater to engage and educate young minds on vital issues. Serving Northern Virginia since 1997, AFYP programs impart life skills, raise awareness, build confidence, encourage creative thinking, build character and above all, nurture an appreciation for live theater in young audiences.

Your support will help AFYP lead in the creation of professional theater that enriches the lives of children, their families and the world around them.

On stage…..

Acting For Young People’s in-school showcase program produces several productions each school year, impacting over 100 students each session. These shows help young actors learn audition skills, participate in the rehearsal process, learn dramatic structure, learn voice and movement techniques, and gain confidence while performing for an audience. The program is in need of technical upgrades in lighting and sound. Your contribution will help raise money for the upgrade while keeping the cost of tuition at current levels.

After school…..

Acting For Young People’s after-school program is currently offered in 33 schools in and around Fairfax County. The classes are designed to teach acting technique while building young people’s confidence and giving them the opportunity to grow as they learn. With your support AFYP can broaden participation across all income groups by offering need-based scholarships for this program.

Our new initiative, TIME TO SHINEis an AFYP after-school program for students living in poverty and attending a Title 1 elementary school in Fairfax County. AFYP’s goal is to offer this program tuition-free to 100 students across five Title 1 schools during the first year. The mission of the program is to integrate practical life skills with performing arts skills, leading to more confident individuals that feel it is possible to change their future by working hard and embracing the opportunities presented to them.

AFYP is grateful for the community support that has helped grow its programs and expand its audience. But, our work is not done. As we continue to enrich and transform lives, we are depending on you to reach new schools, develop new plays, shape new ideas, and teach young actors new skills. Please make a donation today and support Acting For Young People in this artistic journey.
